Stilleven means “still life”

Hello! We are Cori Anne and Conrad Dykman and we run Stilleven Flower Farm located in Aldergrove, BC, Canada.

First and foremost we need to acknowledge that the land we occupy is on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of Màth’xwi First Nations. We want to honour the Indigenous people who have lived and worked on this land historically and presently.

Stilleven, pronounced “still-lay-ven”, means ‘still life’ in Dutch - like the still life paintings; which were full of flowers and pottery and had a beautiful moodiness to them that we love and hope to embody through our work, and photography.

We are grateful parents to two beautiful little boys. We are also first generation farmers - meaning we’re learning it all as we go. We both have extensive backgrounds as teachers - Cori Anne was a Pilates teacher for well over a decade and Conrad is a high school Visual Arts teacher.

We spent a number of years in Vancouver before making the move to the Fraser Valley. While we enjoyed aspects of city living, the challenges of rental wars and the lack of natural spaces for our kids became more and more unappealing. With that, alongside a desire to delve deeper into fighting climate change, we had the opportunity to move out of the city and into a very different pace of life.

Flower farming has changed our lives in the best possible ways. Witnessing life through flowers is such an honour. We’ve been able to share the immense beauty and abundance with our children and those around us. Working with nature and for nature is a humbling and beautiful experience.

Harmonizing with nature, one flower at a time.

We live on an unruly and charming five acres with Conrad’s folks, and we are so fortunate to be able to slowly turn the property into what we hope will be a beautiful, pollinator friendly, soil regenerative piece of land. We work really hard for our flowers and hope you enjoy their beauty, grace and ephemeral quality as much as we do.

From the Earth,

for the home

While we are primarily flower focused, we are also involved in the world of pottery. Having been interested in pottery for years, we were lucky enough to meet and become close friends with a local Potter named Cindy Loeppky who has been teaching us everything she knows. We feel so fortunate to be able to work and create with clay. It’s such a meditative practice, and a beautiful way of life. In our spare time you will find us on the wheel. We love making functional and unique pieces for our home and yours!
